About OnRamps

OnRamps is an innovative dual-enrollment program coordinated by The University of Texas at Austin. Founded in 2011 in partnership with the Texas Higher Education Leaders Consortium and supported by generous funding from the Texas Legislature, OnRamps is dedicated to preparing high school students for postsecondary student success.

Since its inception, OnRamps has also received grants from Lumina, Google, and the National Science Foundation furthering the program's efforts to broaden the impact of dual enrollment in the state.

Many of the best-prepared high school students—even those who have taken the most rigorous course work offered to them—still struggle in entry-level college courses. Far too many of these high-potential students never complete a postsecondary degree.

Professional Learning

OnRamps offers yearlong 1:1 training and support to every high school OnRamps Instructor. Our instructors receive best-in-class instructional resources and strategies that improve teaching quality in OnRamps courses and beyond.

How OnRamps Works

OnRamps works through a dual-enrollment model. Using a hybrid delivery approach, students meet rigorous university-level college readiness standards and have the opportunity to earn UT Austin credit from a UT faculty member and high school credit from their local teacher. All OnRamps courses can be applied to the Texas Common Core and are guaranteed to transfer to any public institution in Texas. OnRamps incorporates an organized data and action analytics approach to support students, teachers, and districts in their pursuit of educational excellence.

Texas Tech University

In 2016, UT Austin partnered with Texas Tech University to launch an inaugural OnRamps replication site. Tech OnRamps will offer courses in Pre-Calculus and Statistics in the Lubbock area during the 2016-2017 school year. For more information on replication sites, please contact us.

OnRamps to OnRamps

OnRamps to OnRamps offers high quality professional learning experiences for Algebra 2 teachers interested in inquiry-based learning. The program includes expert instructional coaching, curricular materials, and 46 hours of CPE credits. Available to all Texas Algebra 2 instructors. Learn more.
