About OnRamps

OnRamps was founded in 2011 to increase the number and diversity of students who engage in learning experiences aligned with the expectations of leading universities. To do this, OnRamps established and applies a four-pillar design—to meet college standards, implement innovative pedagogy, facilitate a technology-enhanced education, and diffuse aligned college experiences.

OnRamps facilitates a network of Texas students, teachers, districts, community partners and higher education institutions, offering:

  • high-quality courses for students to engage in authentic college experiences;
  • ongoing professional development and virtual supports for teachers to improve the quality of instruction; and
  • strategic partnerships that extend the reach and yield the greatest impact on postsecondary attainment, persistence and completion.

Strategic Initiatives

Over the past few years, OnRamps has developed a set of strategic initiatives focused on aligning academic expectations between high school and college, which allow us to further innovate alongside other schools, colleges and universities. These include: OnRamps Academies, Dual Credit Innovation Collaborative, and Texas MicroMajor— with a goal of growing networks and cross-institutional collaborations and broadening access to high-quality learning experiences in education.

Additional Offerings

OnRamps partnered with The University of Texas at Austin's College of Natural Science's High School Research Initiative and UTeach to facilitate a course in Research Methods (NSC 309), providing technology and enrollment management supports throughout the year.

Partnerships

Replication

OnRamps is looking for partners to replicate and scale the dual enrollment and professional learning and development model. In 2016, OnRamps partnered with Texas Tech University to launch an inaugural replication site. Courses in Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Computer Science, Geosciences, Physics I and Physics II were offered in the Lubbock area during the 2018-2019 school year.

Recently, OnRamps announced a new replication partnership with Houston Community College to develop a faculty training program that centers on innovation in STEM-focused teaching and learning.
