OnRamps Academies

Infusing Expertise and Excellence

OnRamps Academies extends the OnRamps professional development and learning model to high school teachers who do not teach OnRamps and to high school administrators, instructional coaches, counselors and advisors.

  • Grow professionally and advance expertise
  • Cultivate high-demand skills for future workforce
  • Engage in active learning to help students succeed

Led by The University of Texas at Austin Faculty and OnRamps leadership, we offer four workshops tailored to best fit the needs and goals of various members of high school campuses across the state.

2019 Workshops

Educators will explore the interconnectedness of the Geometry and Algebra curricula using Inquiry-Based Learning. Led by Dr. Mark Daniels, lead faculty for OnRamps Precalculus and College Algebra and UTeach Associate Director.

Science Through Inquiry: Teaching Scientific Principles to Advance Student Ownership

Designing to Drive Student Learning: Engaging Teachers to Transform Classrooms

District and campus staff will develop strategies to confront the challenges that inhibit students from retaining information and demonstrating their learning on assessments. Led by Dr. Jennifer Porter, OnRamps Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Leading to Drive College and Career Readiness: Engaging Counselors to Transform Students Pathways

Counselors will come together to learn how the network, model and resources of OnRamps and its sister initiative, Texas OnCourse, can help positively impact their students' performance, readiness and postsecondary outcomes. Led by Jennifer Saenz, OnRamps Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and Outreach.

The workshops are available for a $750 registration fee—per teacher—which also includes a Summer Institute on the University campus, held June 17-20; Fall and Spring one-day workshops; virtual coaching and collaboration; and supplemental curriculum materials.
