OnRamps Academies was developed for educators who do not teach OnRamps courses but are looking to grow professionally and to advance their skills and expertise in their respective fields. OnRamps Academies offers workshops in Geometry and Algebra and in Chemistry, as well as ongoing support and resources throughout the year with the goal of helping educators transform their classrooms, deepen content with engaging pedagogy, and create high-quality learning experiences for all students.
Mathematics Learning By Inquiry: Geometry And Algebra
This professional learning and development workshop provides teachers with inquiry-based curriculum to enhance activities conducted in the Algebra and Geometry classrooms, as well as models and explains the use of inquiry methods to teach Mathematics curriculum in general. Led by Dr. Mark Daniels, lead faculty for OnRamps Precalculus and College Algebra and UTeach Associate Director. Math deans and Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II teachers welcome.
Chemistry Learning By Questioning: Teaching Scientific Principles To Advance Student Ownership
This professional learning and development workshop introduces teachers of TEKS-based and Pre-AP Chemistry to key concepts of Chemistry. Teachers will layer their content knowledge with peer instruction and student-centered pedagogy to promote student success in the Chemistry classroom. Led by Dr. David Laude, lead faculty for OnRamps Chemistry and UT Distinguished Teaching Professor. High School Chemistry teachers welcome.
